Welcome to BackStory, operated by Nextcept LLC. By using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must immediately stop using the service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BackStory, you affirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

2. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

• You must be at least 13 years old to use BackStory.
• You are solely responsible for all content you submit, including URLs, prompts, and other inputs.
• You agree not to submit any material that is illegal, defamatory, infringing, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate.
• You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, scrape, or overload our systems.

3. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer (Read Carefully)

All summaries, analyses, titles, and other content generated by BackStory are created using third-party AI models. These outputs are:

• Automatically generated and not manually reviewed,
• Based on your submitted content (e.g., URLs),
• Not affiliated with or endorsed by the original source publishers.

We do not claim ownership of or affiliation with any third-party content referenced. The AI-generated content does not replicate or paraphrase the source text directly—it is a new interpretation intended for informational purposes only.

BackStory assumes no liability for the accuracy, completeness, legality, or consequences of using or sharing AI-generated content. You are solely responsible for how you interpret or distribute the output.

4. Copyright & Publisher Rights

BackStory may include links to third-party content or allow submission of publicly available URLs. We do not host, republish, or duplicate original articles.

If you are a publisher or rights holder and believe your content has been misrepresented or misused, please contact us at info@nextcept.com and we will respond promptly.

5. Payments and Billing

Certain features may require payment. All transactions are securely processed via Stripe. By using these features, you agree to Stripe’s terms of service and are responsible for all charges to your account.

6. Accounts and Authentication

• Authentication is handled through Google and other providers. By logging in, you consent to share your public profile information.
• Do not share your login credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

7. Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for violations of these terms or misuse of the service.

8. Limitation of Liability

BackStory is provided "as-is" and "as available" with no warranties of any kind. Nextcept LLC shall not be liable for any damages, including indirect or consequential damages, arising out of your use of the service, including reliance on AI-generated content.

9. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of any content you submit. By submitting content, you grant BackStory a non-exclusive, worldwide license to process, analyze, and store your data to provide and improve the service. You confirm that you have rights to any submitted content.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. Continued use after any update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
